THE CHALLENGE
The challenge rolls out from Munich at dawn on May 15th, 2027. Ahead lies an epic route where nearly half of the total distance is conquered on dedicated, car-free bike paths. You will navigate through legendary mountain landscapes, tracing iconic landmarks like the raw alpine amphitheater of Eng Alm, the dramatic Reschenpass, the historic Brennerpass, the crystal waters of the Achensee, or the hidden valleys of the Valepp Talstraße.
The route is designed to adapt to your ambition and measure your feelings on the go, as you decide how deep into the wild you want to go:
The Base Route: A compact but demanding 650 km with +6,500 m of elevation.
The Explorer sectors: Push your limits by unlocking two optional Explorer Point Sectors (Eng Alm and Valepp, with 50 explorer points each). Completing both elevates the challenge to a total of 725 km and +8,000 m of elevation.
Every rider will manage their pace, strategy, and sleep to complete the loop and return to Munich before dusk on May 17th, 2027.

ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS

Start from Munich

The journey begins in Munich, Bavaria’s vibrant capital. The city releases you into the adventure through the beautiful and peaceful Bavarian roads.
EP1: Eng Alm

Hidden deep in the Karwendel mountains, the Eng Alm is a pastoral dream turned epic backdrop: a high alpine valley lined with ancient sycamore maples and ringed by sheer limestone walls. Riding here feels like entering a secret kingdom of timeless beauty. Those who conquer Eng Alm will earn 50 Explorer Points.
Reschenpass
At the frontier of Austria and Italy, the Reschen Pass unveils the surreal sight of a lone church tower rising from the turquoise waters of Lake Resia. This gateway to the South Tyrol feels like riding into a legend, where high alpine winds carry you across borders and into the mountains’ embrace.

South Tyrol bike paths

Leaving the high pass behind, you enter a cyclist’s paradise: a dedicated bike path that weaves seamlessly through South Tyrol’s greatest treasures. You will feel the transition from the breeze of Merano to the bustling alpine-urban fusion of Bolzano. From there, the path gently climbs, guiding you past the ancient abbey of Brixen and deeper into the mountains until you reach the high-altitude reward of Vipiteno.
Brennerpass
Leaving Vipiteno behind, the journey crosses into Austria via Brenner Pass. Riding along the Alter Bahnradweg, you will follow the gentle gradients of a transformed historic railway line. This car-free path carves through the mountains, leading you through old tunnels and over alpine bridges, turning a monumental border crossing into a smooth, unforgettable passage into the Austrian Tyrol.

Achensee

Leaving the Inn Valley behind, the route climbs toward the mesmerizing waters of Lake Achensee, the fjord of the Alps. Riding along this sapphire gem mirrored by limestone peaks, you will track the shoreline northward as the landscape subtly shifts. This high alpine terrace serves as your spectacular gateway, where the mountains parted to create a natural, breathtaking corridor straight into Germany.
EP2 Valepp
Crossing into Germany, the route dives into the pristine wilderness of Bavaria along the Valepp Talstraße. This hidden alpine corridor, carved between limestone peaks and rushing mountain streams, is a true sanctuary for cyclists. Here you will pedal through dense forests and secret valleys in absolute tranquility, finding perfect rhythm on a ribbon of asphalt that feels entirely your own. Conquer it and gain the remaining 50 Explorer Points.

Finish in Munich

The mountains fade into the horizon as the skyline of Munich calls you home for the final showdown. You have survived the Short. Sharp. Wild. loop, and now only one barrier remains: reaching the finish line before dusk on May 17th. Ride like the wind, conquer the clock, and celebrate an unforgettable triumph.
