THE CHALLENGE
Monaco di Baviera Lite II takes you on an epic journey through the heart of the Alps, starting and finishing in Munich, crossing Austria, touching Switzerland and reaching deep into northern Italy before turning north once again.
Over 900 to 1,100 kilometres and from 13.500 up to 21,000 metres of elevation gain, the route connects some of the most iconic climbs in the Alps: Passo Stelvio via Umbrailpass, Passo del Rombo, Passo Giovo, Passo delle Erbe and the legendary Großglockner High Alpine Road, among others. The Großglockner alone rises through 36 hairpins to the Hochtor at 2,504 metres, deep in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
You have 136 hours to earn your place among the finishers. To complete Lite II, riders must collect at least 20 points along the route. Choose your climbs wisely, guided by your strategy and how you feel throughout the challenge.

MAIN RULES
Leave no trace
Riders can participate solo or in team (2, 3 or 4)
Riders must be fully self-supported
Riders must know and follow the local laws and traffic regulations at any time
No drafting allowed at any time
Tracker device must be active during the entire route
No E-BIKES allowed
Riders are required to read and sign the corresponding rider manual and rider agreement

Start from Munich
The journey begins in Munich, Bavaria’s vibrant capital. The city releases you into the adventure through the beautiful and peaceful Bavarian roads.
Reschenpass
At the frontier of Austria and Italy, the Reschen Pass unveils the surreal sight of a lone church tower rising from the turquoise waters of Lake Resia. This gateway to the South Tyrol feels like riding into a legend, where high alpine winds carry you across borders and into the mountains’ embrace.
EP1 Stelvio via Umbrailpass
The mighty Stelvio, approached through Switzerland’s highest paved road, the Umbrailpass, is cycling’s cathedral. Its endless switchbacks climb into thin air, rewarding every pedal stroke with views that stretch beyond nations—a summit where legends are made and riders become part of history. Conquer it and earn the first 18 explorer points.
EP2 Passo del Rombo
Rising from San Leonardo in Passiria, the colossal Passo del Rombo goes until 2,474 meters high. This brutal 29 km climb tests your resolve with towering switchbacks and raw alpine terrain. Survive this legendary wall to unlock 17 Explorer Points!
EP3 Passo Giovo
Deep in the South Tyrolean Alps, the stunning Passo Giovo stands as a timeless monument to cycling. Reaching an altitude of 2,094 meters, this iconic road challenges you with 19.5 kilometers of sweeping curves, dense pine forests, and relentless gradients. Conquer it and earn 22 explorer points.
Passo delle Erbe & Passo Furcia
Hidden in the Dolomites' heart, the serpentine Passo delle Erbe rises through quiet forests toward the Sass de Putia, while the short but fierce Passo Furcia climbs under the shadow of the mighty Kronplatz. Both reveal breathtaking alpine giants, proving that every climb here carries an epic weight.
EP4 Pustertaler Höhenstraße
A high-altitude balcony between heaven and earth. The panoramic Pustertaler Höhenstraße balances breathtaking alpine scenery with demanding, punchy gradients. Ride past traditional mountain villages and scenic meadows on this sun-kissed terrace road. Conquer this roller-coaster Austrian journey to claim 8 Explorer Points.
Stronach Climb
Hidden in the Austrian Tyrol, the Stronach Climb stands as one of the most iconic ascents of the Monaco di Baviera saga. Over just 3.2 kilometers, this legendary wall punishes every rider with a relentless 12% average gradient and agonizing ramps that max out near 18%. A pure test of survival where even the smallest gear feels too big.
EP5 Edelweißspitze
Austria’s crown jewel rises into a kingdom of glaciers and jagged summits. The Grossglockner’s mighty Hochtor leads to the cobbled ramp of the Edelweißspitze, a 360° throne above the Alps, where the sky feels within reach. The cobbled peak worths 3 Explorer Points.
EP6 Zillergrund Stausee
A peaceful alpine sanctuary. The 21 km ascent to Zillergrund Stausee is a scenic masterpiece winding through a pristine valley. Because it is a toll road, you will enjoy a low traffic journey toward the breathtaking high-altitude dam, surrounded by the raw majesty of the Zillertal Alps. Reach this quiet alpine fortress to unlock 19 Explorer Points!
EP7 Grüne Wand Hütte
An enchanting alpine fairytale. The out-and-back journey through the Stilluptal to the Grüne Wand Hütte immerses you in a paradise of roaring waterfalls and pristine forests. Reach the deep heart of this quiet valley to unlock your final 13 Explorer Points!
Finish in Munich
